The Hypocrisy of America's 250th Birthday Party under a Trump Administration
While DOGE is cutting back on "wasteful government spending", Trump is arguably planning to do the exact opposite next year.
On January 29, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that:
Established “Task Force 250”, a group tasked with throwing a giant patriotic celebration for the country’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026
AND
Set in place a plan to build the “National Garden of American Heroes” by July 4, 2026.
Now, I don’t know about you, but doesn’t this seem extremely hypocritical from a man that has established a temporary agency (DOGE) to eliminate what he deems to be unnecessary government spending?
These statues will not be cheap- a single statue will likely be a similar cost to the one of Billy Graham in the US Capitol building- roughly $650,000.
650,000 times 250 is 162,500,000, or 162.5 million.
And the party funded by the Department of Defense (a department with a requested budget of $849.8 billion) won’t be cheap either.
This money could be used to fulfill the operations of the newly reduced Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
This money could be used for VA programs.
This money could be used for refugee aid.
And instead, it may be used on statues and a giant birthday party, from a conservative administration that apparently wants to cut wasteful spending.
Hypocritical, ain’t it?
